About the series
The German Motor Sports Team will compete in the full Prototype Cup Europe season with a Ligier JS P325, bringing a strong driver lineup and clear title ambitions to the series.
The car will be powered by a 470 hp 3.5-litre twin-turbo Toyota engine. In the first year of the new LMP3 regulations, the Ligier prototype established itself as a fast and competitive car, winning titles in both the European Le Mans Series and the Asian Le Mans Series.
The GMS Team will field a competitive driver duo. Valentino Catalano, who became champion in the Prototype Cup Germany in 2024 and claimed the title in the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge in 2025, will lead the lineup. He will be joined by Jacob Erlbacher, who also brings a wealth of LMP3 experience from the German championship. The car will be run by GEBHARDT Motorsport as a customer operation, providing the equipment and managing the on-track programme.
"We are delighted to be involved in the Prototype Cup Europe," said team manager Karl-David Jennings. "With Valentino and Jacob, we have a more than competitive driver duo, and with the Ligier we also have a good technical basis from which to attack. Our clear goal for this year's season is to win the title."
The Prototype Cup Europe season kicks off at Mugello from 20 to 22 March, followed by rounds at the Nürburgring and Monza, before the season finale on the first weekend of September at Spa-Francorchamps. Each race weekend features two 55-minute races, with a mandatory pit stop and driver change at half-time. The champion will receive a starting place in the 2027 Michelin Le Mans Cup, one of the world's leading LMP3 racing series.
