The Racing Experience driver dominated qualifying for Saturday's Prototype Cup Germany race at the Nürburgring. Three Duqueine and two Ligier in the top five.

Markus Pommer (32/Untereisesheim) continues to dominate the Prototype Cup Germany race weekend at the Nürburgring. After setting the fastest times in the free practice sessions on Friday, he was also at the top of the 15-car field in the Duqueine D08 in qualifying for race one. It is already the second pole position of the 2023 season for the Racing Experience driver, after he was also at the front of the grid at Assen last time.

"Since Assen, things have been going really well in qualifying - just like here at the Nürburgring for the entire race weekend," Pommer beamed at his time of 2:06.010 minutes. As predicted, Saturday morning's qualifying was completed under damp track conditions and therefore with rain tyres. "We had a test here some time ago in pouring rain. Today, however, it was not as wet as it was then. So it was pretty easy to drive," said Pommer, who shares the cockpit in the race with Gary Hauser (31/LUX). 

With a gap of 2.146 seconds, second place in the session went to brand colleague Jacob Erlbacher (23/Böblingen, Gebhardt Motorsport), who will start alone this weekend. Pole-setter Pommer can explain the rather large lead: "I went out on the track first and had a clear view without any spray. That's a huge advantage in the rain. In addition, I was able to do my fastest lap completely without traffic."

Third place went to the Ligier JS P320 of Klaus Abbelen (63/Barweiler) and Felipe Laser (34/Leipzig, both Frikadelli Racing), who were 2.294 seconds behind. The duo is making a guest start at the Nürburgring in the Prototype Cup Germany organised by ADAC and Creventic.

Fourth, 2.385 seconds behind, were Oscar Tunjo (27/COL) and Julien Apothéloz (22/CHE, both Van Ommen Racing by DataLab) in another Duqueine. The top five was completed by the Ligier of Jan Marschalkowski (20/Inning am Ammersee) and Guilherme de Oliveira (18/PRT, both MRS GT-Racing).
