Former ADAC GT Masters driver Markus Pommer was also able to turn the fastest lap in the second free practice session of the Prototype Cup Germany at the Nürburgring. Four Duqueine D08s in the top five.

Markus Pommer (32/Untereisesheim) was the dominating driver on the first practice day of the Prototype Cup Germany at the Nürburgring. After setting the fastest time in the first free practice session, the Racing Experience driver also set the fastest time in the second session of the day. In the Duqueine D08, he lapped the traditional 5.137-kilometre track in the Eifel in exactly 1:51.917 minutes. "Of course, it's a great starting point to begin the race weekend directly at the top. The car feels really good. I hope that we take this good feeling with us into the rest of the weekend," explained Pommer, who is competing together with Gary Hauser (31/LUX).

"I had no traffic on my fastest lap," Pommer further described. "However, I had completed a few flying laps in a row. If I had got all my best sectors together in one lap, it would have been a bit faster on the clock." However, Pomer's time from the second free practice was around 1.3 seconds higher than his best from the first session. "That is simply explained" said Pommer. "We had fitted new tyres and also the track offered much more grip in the afternoon."

Pommer and Hauser already clinched the drivers' title in the Prototype Cup Germany early at the last race weekend in Assen. "We want to finish the championship here in the same way as we have contested it all year - in other words, fight at the front," explained Hauser. "Friday started very well. Markus was able to set two best times and I was relatively close to him. So we are very confident."

Second place in the second free practice session went to Nigel Moore (31/GBR) in the Aust Motorsport Ligier JS P320, just 0.038 seconds behind. Third place went to Xavier Lloveras (23) in a Mühlner Motorsport Duqueine. The Spaniard was 0.533 seconds behind Pommer. Fourth place, 0.700 seconds behind, went to fellow Duqueine drivers Gustavo Kyrila (29/BRA) and Nico Göhler (20/Grasleben, both BWT Mücke Motorsport). Jacob Erlbacher (23/Böblingen, Gebhardt Motorsport) completed the top five in another Duqueine.

Qualifying and a race in the Prototype Cup Germany will follow on Saturday and Sunday at the Nürburgring. As usual, the action will be streamed live on the ADAC Motorsport channel youtube.com/adacmotorsports.
